The following are the events that the PFC board typically plans for our school. Sign up here to be contacted where there are volunteer opportunities during the school year. Information about events will be found here on this site, from your room parents, and from the school notifications via parent square.

  • Kindergarten Meet & Greet- A Green tradition to welcome incoming Kindergarten students and families to the JG community. 
September
  • Room Parent Orientation- Kickoff meeting for our new Room Parents
October
  • International Walk & Roll to School Day

  • Red Ribbon Week- National drug prevention week.  Promotes and encourages children to make good choices.  Volunteers needed to help support the program by establishing spirit dress up days, decorating the school with red ribbons, and clean up.

  • Virtual Costume & Pumpkin Decorating Contest

  • Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat - An annual carnival-like celebration with games, food, and lots of fun!  Many volunteers are needed to set up, decorate, work at various booths, make baked goods, and clean up.

  • Read Across America- A national weeklong event to encourage the love of reading for all children.  Chairperson will coordinate with school staff some fun reading events throughout the year.  Volunteers will help with a book exchange and other events planned.
March
  • Spring Movie Night- A fun and relaxing night for families to camp out and watch a family-friendly movie together.  Chairperson will coordinate event, distribute flyers and posters, and handle audio-visual equipment.

  • Math Kangaroo- Annual international mathematical competition. Math Kangaroo's vision of encouraging students to learn mathematics by presenting them with problems that are interesting and by rewarding their efforts.

  • St Patrick's Day Parade- City of Dublin’s very own annual parade in downtown. This parade is held on a Saturday in March for St. Patrick’s Day. John Green’s students and staff are invited to walk in the parade showing their support for the school.

  • Dublin City Pride Day- The City of Dublin's Pride week is a community celebration, taking place annually around Earth Day, to celebrate and inspire Dublin residents to give back to their City. Volunteers will come together and help clean John Green’s campus by picking up trash, removing any weeds, cleaning the tables under the blacktop, and anything else needed around the school.

  • Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week - A national celebration of our wonderful teachers. Chairperson will coordinate with volunteers help, a teacher luncheon as well as some other fun treats for the teachers.  Room parents will coordinate something special for their teachers.

School Events- Ongoing 


Gator Gallop (school run) 

A jog/walk-a-thon and John Green’s primary FUNdraising for the year!  Encourages students to participate by collecting donations from friendly faces while promoting the importance of physical fitness.  Volunteers needed to coordinate event and work the day of the event.


Junior Achievement

Pre-planned lessons to teach children real life business practices into the classroom.  All grade appropriate.  Bring real world experiences to the classroom using a program developed by the Junior Achievement organization.  Volunteers will receive training and will lead several ½ hour lessons in the classroom.


Project Cornerstone

Allows us the opportunity to provide our students and families with the Asset Building Champions (ABC) Family Engagement Program, Expect Respect Trainings, and Take It Personally Parent Workshops.  Through the program, students and adults learn to create positive connections in their community.


Field Day

A fun day to promote physical fitness and to celebrate the end of the school year!  Chairs will coordinate a variety of events and work with the staff for the day’s schedule.  Volunteers will help set up, run the stations, and clean up afterwards.
