JOHN GREEN ELEMENTARY INCOMING KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION
This page was designed to try and help answer questions you
may have as a parent of an incoming kindergartener. The process
can seem overwhelming to a parent that is new to the school system
so we are here to help!
To be redirected to the Dublin Unified School District’s
Incoming Kindergarten page, please click here.
Please note that the below information is specific to incoming
kindergarteners at John Green Elementary. If you plan to attend
a different elementary school in Dublin, you will need to visit
that school for specifics on their registration.
WHEN IS INCOMING KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR THE 2010-2011
SCHOOL YEAR?
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 from 9am to Noon and 1pm to 3pm. Registration
will be closed between Noon and 1pm for lunch.
Please note: Incoming Kindergarten Registration packets are
not available until March 10th!

|
WHERE IS REGISTRATION HELD?
In the John Green Multi-Purpose Room (just follow the people and
the signs)!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO REGISTRATION?
When you check in for registration, you will be given a packet
of information. In this packet, there will be many forms that you
will need to fill out. IN ADDITION TO THE FORMS IN THE PACKET,
you will need to bring copies of the following:
- 2 Proofs of Residency (a copy of your PG&E, water
or garbage bill and a copy of your mortgage statement or
rental agreement).
- A copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport.
- A copy of your child’s social security number.
- A copy of your child’s immunization record.
Please note that it is highly recommended that you bring COPIES
of all of the above items in order to speed things along. The school
is required to keep copies of these items, and if you do not bring
a copy, the person helping you will have to stop to make copies.
DO I NEED TO STAY DURING REGISTRATION AND FILL OUT THESE
FORMS?
Please do! It is highly recommended that you stay at the school
to fill out all of the forms and turn them in on the spot. Once
you have turned in these forms, you will secure yourself a spot
on John Green’s registration list. If you delay in turning
these forms in, you run the risk of not getting your child in to
John Green.
Please note that admittance is on a first come first serve
basis. If you are not among the first 120 applications received
you run the risk of being diverted to another school in Dublin with
space available.
If for some reason you absolutely can not stay, please fill out
the forms and turn them in as soon as possible to the John Green
office.
IF I CAN’T MAKE IT TO KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION,
CAN I SEND SOMEONE ELSE?
If you are unable to make it to registration, you may send someone
in your place. However, please try to send someone that is capable
of filling out all of the forms for you. You may have them pick
up the packet and bring it home to you, but registration is on a
first come, first served basis and you run the risk of not getting
your kindergartener into Green if you delay in turning in your paperwork.
Please note that admittance is on a first come first serve
basis. If you are not among the first 120 applications received
you run the risk of being diverted to another school in Dublin with
space available.
DOES MY CHILD NEED TO ATTEND KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION?
No, your child does not need to attend registration with you, although
they are welcome. Please keep in mind though that you will be filling
out lots of forms and may have to wait in long lines. It is suggested
that you bring something along to occupy your child while you are
here. Childcare is not available at Kindergarten Registration.
HOW OLD DOES MY KINDERGARTENER NEED TO BE IN ORDER TO ATTEND
JOHN GREEN FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR?
Children must have been born on or before December 2, 2005 to be
eligible to attend for the 2010-2011 school year.
WHAT IS THE KINDERGARTEN ASSESSMENT APPOINTMENT?
Once you have turned in all of your forms at the Kindergarten Registration,
you will be given a day and time for your child’s Kindergarten
Assessment. This assessment will be held sometime during May of
2010. You will receive further information as the date gets closer.
During the Kindergarten Assessment, your child’s skills will
be evaluated by a kindergarten teacher. It is a very informal and
friendly setting for them and no pressure is put on your child during
the assessment.
The Dublin School District has put together a Kindergarten
Readiness Checklist for parents of incoming kindergarteners
to help guide them as they work and play with their child. This
checklist is designed to help you look at your child's physical,
social, emotional and cognitive development and contains items that
are important to your child's success in kindergarten.
CAN I TAKE A TOUR OF THE SCHOOL BEFORE MY CHILD IS ENROLLED?
Yes! The school will be hosting guided tours February 23, March
25, April 22, and May 27 at 10:30am. To reserve a spot, please contact
Lynne Pedlow at 833-4200, ext. 6605.
.
WILL MY CHILD BE ABLE TO SEE HIS/HER CLASSROOM AND MEET
HIS/HER TEACHER BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS?
Yes! We typically hold a Kindergarten Welcoming day the
week before school starts. Your child will have the opportunity
to meet the Principal, the kindergarten teachers and to see their
classroom. More details will be available as our current school
year winds down.
